Kirovsky Islamic Centre – Make it a Reality

The Quran, re-currently, urges the faithful to, think, ponder, reflect and acquire knowledge that would bring them closer to God and to His creation.
The Quran uses repetition in order to imbed certain key concepts in the consciousness of its listeners. Allah (God) and Rab (the Sustainer) are repeated 2,800 and 950 times respectively in the sacred text; Ilm (knowledge) comes third with 750 mentions.
The Prophet (pbuh) commanded knowledge upon all Muslims, and urged them to seek knowledge as far they could reach, and also to seek it at all times.
Following these commands and traditions, Muslim rulers insisted that every Muslim child acquired learning, and they themselves gave considerable support to institutions, and learning in general. This contributed largely with the commands of Islam to make elementary education almost universal amongst Muslims. `It was this great liberality,’ says Wilds ‘which they [the Muslims] displayed in educating their people in the schools which was one of the most potent factors in the brilliant and rapid growth of their civilisation. Education was so universally diffused that it was said to be difficult to find a Muslim who could not read or write.’
In Muslim Spain, according to Scott, there was not a village where `the blessings of education’ could not be enjoyed by the children of the most indigent peasant, and in Cordoba were eight hundred public schools frequented alike by Muslims, Christians, and Jews, and where instruction was imparted by lectures. The Spanish Muslim received knowledge at the same time and under the same conditions as the literary pilgrims from Asia Minor and Egypt, from Germany, France, and Britain. And in the great Muslim university of Cordoba, both Jews and Christians attained to acknowledged distinction as professors. So high was the place of learning that both teachers and pupils were greatly respected by the mass of the population; and the large libraries collected by the wealthy landed and merchants showed that learning – as in the Italian Renaissance (six hundred years later)- was one of the marks of a gentleman.
`In scarcely any other culture,’ Pedersen holds, has the literary life played such a role as in Islam. Learning (ilm), by which is meant the whole world of the intellect, engaged the interest of Muslims more than anything….
The life that evolved in the mosques spread outward to put its mark upon influential circles everywhere.’ Every place, from the mosque to the hospital, the observatory, to the madrassa was a place of learning. Scholars also addressed gatherings of people in their own homes. Al-Ghazali, Al-Farabi, and Ibn Sinna, amongst many more, after teaching in public schools, retired to their private libraries and studies, and continued teaching `those fortunate enough to be invited.’

Abortion is the expulsion of the products of pregnancy before the foetus is viable. Any interruption of human pregnancy prior to the 28′ week (6 months) is known as Abortion.
Types of Abortion
1.Spontaneous Abortion (Miscarriage)
This term is used for the delivery of a nonviable embryo or foetus due to foetal or maternal factors.
2.Induced Abortion
This is made by an elective decision to terminate the pregnancy through the ways and means available.
If the induced Abortion is performed to prevent the health or life of the mother, it is called
therapeutic abortion.
When the life of a foetus starts?
- Some scholars think that the inviolable life of the foetus starts after the soul is breathed in him; after 120 days according to one hadith.
* Abdullah bin Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: Allah’s Messenger (saw) said: Verily your creation is on this wise. The constituents of one of you are collected for forty days in his mother’s womb in the form of blood, after which it becomes a clot of blood in another period of forty days. Then it becomes a lump of flesh and forty days later Allah sends His angel to it with instructions concerning four things, so the angel writes down his livelihood, his death, his deeds, his fortune and misfortune. By Him, besides Whom there is no god, that one amongst you acts like the people deserving Paradise until between him and Paradise mere remains but the distance of a cubit, when suddenly the writing of destiny overcomes him and he begins to act like the dwellers of Hell and thus enters Hell, and another one acts in the way of the dwellers of Hell, until there remains between him and Hell a distance of a cubit that the writing of destiny overcomes him and then he begins to act like the people of Paradise and enters Paradise.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
- Some others think that the inviolable life of the embryo starts 40 days after the fuse of the sperm and the egg takes place.
Their proof is one version of the aforesaid hadith reported by ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud, in which it is stated that the soul is breathed in the embryo’s body 40 days after fertilization takes place.
This version of hadith is supported by some other hadiths narrated by Bukhari and Muslim in which the period is said to be around 40 days.
- Some others think that the inviolable life starts once the embryo implanted itself in the lining of the womb; few days after the fuse of the sperm and the egg takes place.
- And some of them think that the inviolable life starts once the sperm fuses the egg and the product of their fuse gets ready to receive life.
Abortion: lawful or unlawful?
Before 120 days:
1-There is an opinion of few scholars from different four madhahib (the four major Islamic juristic schools of thought) that abortion can be carried out before 120 days. This opinion seems to be based on the assumption that no life exists before 120 days since the soul is breathed only after 120 days. Modem science, however, shows that there is a kind of life, even though it is not a complete life, as modern equipments enable doctors to hear foetal heartbeats by the eighth week.
2-Another opinion of few other scholars is that abortion before 120 days is reprehensible (disapproved).
3-The opinion of some other few scholars is that abortion before 40 days is permissible while it is haram after 40 days.
4-The opinion of the majority of scholars, which is the preferable one according to the four madhahib is that abortion after the beginning of pregnancy is forbidden only for some justifiable reasons such as rape and incest.
However, the offence committed against the foetus in this stage is not on the same level. The crime gets more heinous as the foetus grows up till it becomes a full crime after 120 days.
• The difference between contraception and Abortion is that contraception is to avoid pregnancy; there is no assault or crime against an existent human being. While Abortion is a direct assault against the life of an existing human being.
“O you Prophet: When, believing women come to you to give you their pledge not to associate anything with Allah in worship, that they shall not steal, that they shall not commit adultery, that they shall not kill their children, that they shall not utter slander, intentionally forge falsehood, and that they shall not disobey you in any just cause, then accept their pledge and pray to Allah for their forgiveness, for Allah is oft-forgiving most merciful.” (60:12)
The punishment of Abortion before 120 days
Majority of scholars:
-If the matter aborted is in the form of human being when the organs has started to appear or when the specialists confirm that the matter aborted is an embryo or pre-embryo, the person who caused abortion has to pay Ghurra (1/20 of diyyah — 75 dirhams. I dirham = 31 gold grams).
-If the matter aborted is still in the form of blood, the person who caused abortion will not be required to pay ghorra. There may be a punishment as imposed by law or a judge for the assault on the mother.
Imam Malik:
The person who caused abortion is required to pay ghorra even if the matter aborted is still in the form of blood.
-Abortion After 120 days:
All scholars unanimously agree that Abortion is forbidden.Deliberate abortion after the quickening takes place (when the soul is breathed in the foetus after 120 days) is a crime against a living human being. This includes the cases when the foetus is a result of unlawful sexual intercourse (zina), rape or incest. Although this foetus is the result of a crime, the foetus will not be held responsible for the crime of his parents or one of them. He is a distinct human being with full rights and his life should be respected and preserved like the life of others.
When abortion may be allowed?
Abortion would be legitimate if the mother has a health condition that makes the continuation of pregnancy a danger to her life.
When a reliable medical source gives a proof indicating that continued pregnancy, even after the confirmation of the existence of life, would definitely lead to the mother’s death, abortion would be permissible on the legal maxim: “Lesser evil is to be perpetrated.”
The punishment of Abortion after 120 days
1-If the foetus is delivered alive with any visible symptoms of life:
The case will be dealt with as an act of manslaughter. The person responsible for this abortion will be subject to the following kinds of punishment:
Religious punishment: Kaffarah (to free a slave, or to fast 2 consecutive months).
Legal responsibility: full blood money (diyyah) in addition to a punishment as imposed by law or the judge if abortion is caused by an assault on the mother.
2-If the foetus is delivered dead:
Legal responsibility: ghurrah should be paid which is equal to 1/20 (5%) of blood money
(diyyah) in addition to a punishment as imposed by law or the judge if abortion is caused by an assault on the mother.

Assalamualaikum
Regarding the fact that I was actually assigned as one of the writers of this blog long time ago, but eventually only today I feel responsible for it.. please accept my apology. Primarily for protracting the efficacy of the blog for the community, and- for our imminent islamic centre at Kirovsky, which we all know, needs a lot of supportive collaborations from the entire muslim residents in Volgograd. Spiritually, maybe physically and most essentially, in the form of financial aid.
What I am trying to convey here is, despite our hectic daily errands which are basically encoded and they repeat every day, our mindset and sensitivity should be switched and directed towards more peduli-ummah one. Ummah, in the context of the whole muslim community notwithstanding their race, nationality, skin colour et cetera. Ummah, in the perception that we wish they would have the same sovereignty to practice Islam as we do, they could learn about this religion-as-way-of-life like we all do, and they see Islam not only by the ritual endeavors but the syumul one.
Malaysia has abundant of mosques, surau, Islamic centres. Some of them are sited only few steps from our domiciles, we get reminded five times per day during each solah time. We even have a crystal mosque which forbids entrance of our own families to perform daily prayers.
Ok, without a hitch.
Ironically, they have one here in Volgograd. The one which is congested every Friday prayers (as I was told) and apparently, during eid prayers. The one they use for every possible occasions- some Muslim kids live there, undergo their daily routines in the mosque- sleep, eat, quran recitations, and so forth.
“There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and God loveth those who make themselves pure” At-tawbah (The repentance);108.
Yes, I can say it was laid from the first day on piety (taqwa). Some Palestinian students felt sorry for the Volgograd Muslim community who had no particular place for collective ritual practices hence they earnestly spent their annual allowance for the sake of the mosque. Subhanallah, may their rewards increase manifold.
So. Basically this is the main purpose of the construction of this blog. We are, by all means trying to decrease the burden and load carried by the Russian muslims in building up an Islamic centre- which, maybe is of no use (literally) by most of us who are graduating soon in this year or in few years time. Well, we are talking in the sense of the incessant rewards by Allah swt as long as the Islamic centre is being used by our brothers and sisters of Russian citizens or of our future generations themselves. Allah told us in the Quran ..
“For those who give in Charity, men and women, and loan to God a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have (besides) a liberal reward” Al Hadid; 18
I believe, we have even more stipends than they did (the Palestinian students). Why they spent their money for enduring rewards but we don’t? Why we choose to let the money flows en route for unimportant, self-satisfaction stuffs than concluding some portions of it in our bargain with Allah? Recall At-taubah ayah 111..“God hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise)”
When we say we are broke, we are pseudo pathetic. Maybe we should check the authenticity of the outflow of our money, the management of our economic status. Perhaps we say we had given up our money last year (back then there was a massive collection for Kirovsky) but I remember one of our brothers said; “We cant be satisfied for just our charity given in history but we should ask what we gave yesterday, it’s an istiqamah deeds” well, something like that.
InsyaAllah..what we can do now, we are organizing sort of a peduli-ummah period. There will be extensive money collections in lecture halls, classes, even rooms, hostels and houses. U will be handed in the Kirovsky-money-boxes, tabung (or whatever they call it) today and maybe tomorrow.. cum the day after tomorrow. This project, I hope is ceaseless, because as we all know, our charity can’t be ceased. Furthermore, insyaAllah we will upgrade the progression of the Islamic centre from time to time.
One more thing, should I mention this? Roughly, the Islamic centre lacks nearly RM 2million- a big number which of course, an amount out-of-reach for us, students. We still need help from other possible truthful people who can make the Islamic centre feasible, but at least we could have our smallest credit in it as long as we do this for the aspect of Islamic charity (sadaqah), in the cause of Allah and to gain His bless.insyaAllah
Abu Musa Al-Ashari reported that the Messenger of Allah, Rasulullah s.a.w said; “Every Muslim is obliged to give charity” They said “But what if one does not have anything to give?” He said “Then let him work with his own hands so he (first) benefits himself and then gives in charity”.They said “But if one is unable to do that?” He said “So let him call (others) to do good”. They said “But if he is not able to do that?” He said, “So let him abstain from doing evil, for even that will be counted as his act of charity”
